A cardiothoracic surgeon from Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, based in Charlotte with over 25 locations across the Carolinas, at Carolinas HealthCare System has developed and patented a life-saving sternal device for high-risk open chest surgeries. The concept and prototype were developed entirely in-house at Carolinas HealthCare System over the course of six years with extensive research about high-risk sternal closure procedures.
